Dog Training Tip: Never Stop Playing

Dog Training Tip: Never Stop Playing

What does play have to do with dog training? Well, a lot! Actually it is extremely important to play with your dogs both while obedience training and just playing for the fun of it. During formal dog obedience training, play is an excellent reward that is very motivating and satisfying. Playing just for the fun of it has countless benefits for both the human and the dog. It is essential for mental health, it relieves stress, helps us relax, inspires cooperation, stimulates learning, allows us to be physical, flushes away negativity, makes us laugh, and on and on and on.

Let’s face it; dogs just seem to have a way of provoking playfulness. Perhaps the best benefit of play in dog training and at home is that it strengthens the bond between pet and owner. In dog obedience training, there is nothing more important than that. Even though we have great outdoor weather here in Denver, Colorado, don’t neglect to play inside on those not so sunny days!
